Jukebox The Ghost – Off To The Races

I have to admit, Jukebox the Ghost was not a band I had heard of before this year. Maybe I’d heard the name before but certainly hadn’t heard a song. My friend recommended it, mostly based off their biggest song, “Everybody’s Lonely.” Now, most of the time I would say any song on the radio you hear is one of the worst on the album. Unfortunately, this doesn’t go for Off to the Races. “Everybody’s Lonely” is great and would be my #2 favorite on the album but that doesn’t say much.

“Jumpstarted” is my favorite on the album by a good margin. Third is “Fred Astaire” and from there on it goes pretty far downhill. But instead of continuing to dis that half I’d like to say that those three songs truly are phenomenal. You can tell they got a lot of inspiration from Queen and “Jumpstarted” is, dare I say, like a 2018 “Bohemian Rhapsody” (in a way.) “Fred Astaire” sounds like a Mowgli’s song. “I’m Good,” or “San Francisco”? Anyone? Either way it’s worth a listen. You can try some others, but I adamantly recommend…

Repeat: Jumpstarted, Everybody’s Lonely, Fred Astaire

Skip: Diane, Simple as 1 2 3, See You Soon
